I've had a barely better thymme at Sevenstring dot org (talkbass I cannot recommend on any level), but SteveHoff takes the cake.

the Reddit guitar and pedal groups are utterly useless. most of my time there is spent explaining elementary concepts to noobs who apparently don't know how to Google. the guitar subreddits are particularly horrible. i recall a guy whose response to me saying "no" to "Is Kirk Hammett one of the coolest guitarists around?" was "you listen to classical music." i couldn't even. i try to view it as a form of community service. i really do want for other people not to go have to go through the laborious processes i've done while going from two boxes sliding around on the floor to my current massive array of sonic peculiarity. i spent about 2000 words the other day talking to someone about their proposed layout for a huge board and i think i helped. he wasn't leaving enough cabling room for sidejack pedals, and planned to use two of the big MXR ISO Blocks next to each other on the right side of the board which would cause all kinds of issues with cabling, use of space, and most importantly make it difficult to plug into the board without fucking up your settings because he was going to plug in 1/3 of the way across the upper tier. i was like "please, don't do that. or that. or that. do you really want to have to tape down the knobs on multiple pedals?" but in terms of finding information rather than providing it they're utterly hopeless.
