Machina is still not very good, though.
I honestly thought they were the same album. LOL! That's how forgettable they were to me. Now I have to go look them up and see which one I dislike more. To the interwebs!!!

I don't know if this is unpopular? Every Pumpkins album from the initial run, from Gish through to Machina, is pretty fucking good.

I don't think it is, many people on this site agree with you :picard:

To be fair, they each had their own tones and moods and were each inspiring in different ways. Fuck it. I'll even say Adore had a good setting for depression, which is what Billy seems to always shoot for.

So I think compared to old Smashing Pumpkins, the new shit is just atrocious. BUT! I'm a child of the 80's and basically grew up listening to all that older stuff. So my opinion is a bit, maybe, jaded? I'm not sure. My favorite song by the Pumpkins is Eye. LOL! Not even on a real album. I fucking LOVED Lost Highway though.

Here's an example of a good song from them on an album I hate. Why? Because it hits me in the feels. It's from fucking Machina too. But this shit straight up made me cry the first time I saw this video. I felt so fucked man.

The ideas on every Pumpkins record are usually pretty serviceable (and always aiming higher than they hit), but Corgan spent the second half of his SP career running away from his greatest strengths as a songwriter, and it shows.

Brighten the Corners is the best Pavement album.

hey hey I'm one of those people who's absolutely loathed them since like 1995 if that helps?

If this is unpopular it's because people get their opinions from critics and critics ignore BTC while lining up to perform fellatio on S&E, CRCR, and WZ. If you actually listen to the records there's just no fucking question. BTC is the band at the peak of their powers. The guitar on every song is mind-blowingly good, both SM and Spiral Stairs. The deluxe edition is even better. It's incredible that's it's like, 40 songs, and not one is boring or wanky.

I hope this is a popular opinion: all Pavement's albums are excellent, even TT. They did not make a bad record.

Unpopular(ish) opinion: SM & Jicks are actually a pretty decent band. I routinely think about this song or have it stuck in my head. Phenomenal melody.

I love Danzig's Blackacidevil almost as much as his first four solo albums. Almost.

Ugly is Life of Agony's best album. My 16-year-old self HATES me for saying this.

Kid A is better than OK Computer. Oh wait, this isn't an unpopular opinion? Cool.

Enslaved have yet to release an average album, all are fantastic in their own way.

Black One is the best Sunn O))) album and technically is not actually black metal.

Broken > The Downward Spiral > The Fragile > Further Down the Spiral > the rest

Siamese Dream is not a great album. Mellon Collie has no filler whatsoever. :idk:

See, I'm in the "Mellon Collie is all filler, then Fuck You happens, then XYU, then Ruby, and that's all I came for." camp.

Mellon Collie is pretty solid front to back and this opinion is solely because it is a cassette I have owned since childhood.

I used to love Broken, but now it sounds like Industrial Buttrock to me.

 Industrial Buttrock.
That's the best genre title ever.
