Question for you Scott, on this upcoming update would you be able to offer more pitch scaling options, like natural major and minor? Setting up sweet harmony loop with mode three is awesome but not as easy to do on the fly with the chromatic scale.
hey ya i've been playing with this the last few days actually. I have found that due to the way mode 1 works, with the shift at each repeat, its best to actually choose strategies like a whole tone scale(quantized to major seconds), a diminished scale (quantized to minior thirds) and augmented triad (quantrized to major thirds) etc.I haven't settled on what i will use exactly, but there will be maybe 2-3 more quantization settings in the next firmware. The above strategies work better with mode 3 too but i think the reason is much more easily demonstrated than described so i will make some video sometime before the frm release.
glad you are enjoying the pedal, nice video too!

Ahh yes the feedback of mode one would make some messy intervals with high feedback I imagine. I bet some of those other scales will be rad though.
& thanks for the thanks

ya exactly. like say you had major triad as the scheme. at fifths it might sound ok, but at major third you end up with augmented triads if there is more than 1 repeat, not major at all. but if you make the set of quantizations an augmented triad to begin with, two major third transpositions is also in the triad, two augmented fifth transpositions is also in triad, etc. So all the settings of the dir knob always result in shifts in the advertised chord, regardless of where you have the dir knob. If tyou think of the equal tempered western scale and base 12 numbering it easy to see what will work and what wont, all intervals whose chromatic steps from the root are factors of 12... 1,2,3,4,6...etc. from my fiddling this seems to create effects that are more ah nice instead of ew shit.

Scott, a thought about software updates and settings: currently, pressing the soft switch in mode 1 changes the quantization setting according to the position of the DIR 1 knob. You could have a more extensive set of settings by making *every* knob correspond to a particular setting. (LEN B position, for example, could switch between continuous time control and the existing multiples-of-2 time divisions.) To prevent accidental setting-changing, you could set it up so that the CT5 updates its parameter setting according to the knob positions *if* the soft switch is held down when power is applied. If you wanted additional power, you could involve the mode switch as well: you'd have to reboot the pedal multiple times to change settings in multiple modes, but you'd have the option to have different controls in each mode (if you preferred one quantization setting in mode 1 and another in modes 2/3, for example).
(Yes, I know I don't even have my pedal yet. I think too much. It's a curse.)

Ya i don't think anything like that will happen anytime soon.I see what your getting at, but I really want to keep the pedal simple. If a lot of new features are added, then maybe it is worth it to have such hidden presets, but for now i try to keep the pedal as WYSIWYG as possible, even though this philosophy is already abandoned somewhat for setting the quantizations. Also eventually the LEN B will be continuous all the time, not for the next update though.

Yeah, I just wanted to get the idea out of my head. For my purposes, the CT5 as it exists is pretty much spot-on.

Just realized what this meant. That's probably my only grip with the pedal, the fact that the repeats stop when adjusting the lens. Could that be fixed if Lens B is continuous?

All week I've been recording jams and noting where I will be using my Ct5 when it comes!

had my first band jam with the CT5 today. they were like wow what is this magic box you have. i got the finger from ALL of them in envy when i recorded a clip in mode 2 during a break, then turned it on in a middle of jam, volume'd my guitar off, and drank beer while letting it go wild with a bit of knob twisting... good times

Oh, but you're supposed to run the CT5
into the Particle.

is there any way to adjust the sensitivity (recording level?) of what the Ct5 loops/repeats?
the reason i ask, is that when i play very quietly & record a loop, there's a noticeable gating effect on the recording, and the quieter sounds don't make it to the recording.
however, i do like this feature in mode 1, because i can play quieter & have minimal repeats, then play louder & have the repeats kick in for a 'ducking' type effect, so i wouldn't want to permanently mod it.
