That's not 10 hours. Now how am I gonna spend the next 9 hours and 58 minutes I had set aside for this?
Also, side note, that lady is getting rape threats after this video was posted.

Out of sheer curiosity and sincere wonder and interest I asked my last question, on these same grounds I'd like to ask my following question:
Do you guys don't want to give your thoughts on my question because I'm seriously off the mark in your opinion or is it mostly because you don't wish to discuss that topic in this particular context?

Are you asking about the street harassment question, Tristan?
I posted that video because I think "harassment" is highly subjective. What's considered harassment may vary from person to person.
(I also don't consider bumping this thread once a month to be harassment.)

I just think there might be a bit of intention being lost in translation. At least, that's the only context I can think of, insofar as "hey, how you doin'" is not about the words nearly as much as it is the delivery.

@Tris - If I was walking down those same streets I don't reckon I'd get a single hello - not from those dudes helloing her, and not from any women either. I think it's safe to infer that the purpose with the greetings has got to do with her appearance, and is an ice-breaker. If she responds maybe they can grab a cup of coffee... if they grab a cup of coffee maybe she'll be up for a drink after work. Etc. I find it hard to believe that many folks are interested in wishing her a good day just because they wish a good day on every stranger who wanders past. Her body language made it pretty clear she didn't want to talk but dudes kept on trying.
That's pretty fucked in my opinion. It's bullshit that people can't wander round on their own terms.
PS not agro at you Tris, the fact that our society still has gender relations of a glorified caveman society gets me pretty wound up.

Or the perceived intent.

That was way more concise and eloquent than what I attempted to get at.

Wouldn't it be cool if we lived in a society where you actually greeted people and talked to them regardless of wheter you knew them or not? But yeah, words can often be random "standard sentences" with clear intentions behind them, like in the video above. People don't really communicate anymore, it's more like they're talking at each other.
Filter seems cool though.

Thanks guys!
I was almost starting to feel like a bad person for being insensitive or not being understanding or something.
Subjectivity and perspective are probably keywords here, I totally understand a woman can feel harassed if a guy looks at her boobs or butt while saying "Hey, how ya doing?" but the video didn't really make it clear that was indeed what was happening, in the end notes it also said it didn't include countless winks, which didn't really help to enforce the point of the video either I think.
To be clear, I'm no way like the guys in that video simply because I'm way too shy for that, maybe that's also why (if meant in a friendly, non condescending way)
I actually admire this sort of conduct in people, the will and guts to take the first step to connect with other people, even when they're complete strangers.
Well, I do go around the streets nodding my head and smiling at people though and I do that closing the eyes for a short moment like cats do to signal it's alright thing even at complete strangers so there's that.
Talking is different for me, I mean, I want to really have something to say to / about someone, not just some generalisation or some standard sentence or so.
Awesome post to show the subjectivity of harassment though Chankz.
Also, I had the following song in my head for my whole working day while thinking about this:

The two things together were a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but as usually music prevailed so it was pretty good...

Also I apologize if my comment was off putting Tristan, I didnt mean to blame or infer anything negative against you. I just know how much of a slipperly slope talking about femanism etc can be. Been kinda jaded against people's closed minded reactions lately.
Bros?

oh wow hey dudes
Sorry I've barely been able to be on the forum with my new job.
But uh, I'm not gonna be tackling anything, let alone this until probably January. I haven't talked to BriBri about it since before he left for tour months ago. So probably sometime in 2015 we will get the ball rolling once our lives slow down
