Re: Trashy Fuzz
I bought a Vox Tonebender for my Rat plus $170, which I regret. Rat ate that thing for breakfast (on bass at least). Sounded awesome on guitar. Cut all the low end off my bass. I wasn't too swindled by it. Sold it in less than a month for $400. Rat with the filter all the way treble side is the thrashing, meanest thing I've ever heard. The best way I could always describe it is that it sounded like beating on a trash can, so trashy I'd say. The Tonebender sounded fizzy and creamy at the same time. Good amount of compression, but cut my low end and mids right off. It has an almost cocked wah sound. Really nasally.

I got some ace 90 trash earlier with a Bosstone clone into the ever shitty Hendrix Octave Fuzz. Throw a noise fuzz in front of the bosstone even better.

Re: Trashy Fuzz
This is the the trashiest fuzz sound ever! The Magic Swirling Ship's "He's Coming PartII"

I don't know who's coming, but it sounds like it may be Satan. Sounds like the battery's dying on the pedal or possibly just the Devil's farts. As a bit of shameless self promotion, I make the Acid Fuzz 1966 Italian which is a Vox Tone Bender clone with an external bias knob and other features. It uses the original SFT337 and Mullard OC76 germanium transistors. With the bias knob on about 9 o'clock, it totally nails the trashy dying battery 60's garage fuzz. If anyone's interested in a 60's fuzz you can PM me or email: joncurl@hotmail.com
For trippy trashy fuzz, you can't beat fuzz through a Vox Repeat Percussion tremolo ala Spacemen 3 or the Creation (US) "No SIlver Bird". I also make clones of the Vox Repeat Percussion, but with added depth and volume controls:

Of course the Beatles "Tax Man" and anything off the Stooges 1st album are the cream of fuzz tones.

It's trashier than any other fuzz, I guarantee it.
+1. With the boost on it is super trebly and trashy. A great sound I haven't heard in any other fuzz I've had. Can nail a lot of sounds heard in late 70's and early 80's punk and post-punk.
