Original OD-1s can be had pretty cheap too. I've seen them go from $80-$150 USD, with SS ones going for the upper range of course.

I've never really had a desire for a TS, but I've also never tried one out.

I do have GAS for a Karoake Party and a Dark Boost :)

Timmy. Out of the many ODs I've tried this one remains on my board. Very versatile. Singing tree is another good one.

yeah the tubescreamer was the "must buy" pedal as per the guy behind the counter at guitar center... i played it for a half hour and immediately wanted to open it up and make it better... that was five years ago.... haven't owned one since... but i have owned variations on the theme, here are my favorites:

Devi Ever Karaoke Party
Honey Bee (the clone i build, more output, more OD)
SHO
Twosome Fix'd Fuzz Boost (nice one leastwise :thumb: )
D*A*M Sonic Titan

i also built an Analogman KOT dual clone which sounds amazing when both sides are on, but not so much OD as wild feedback-y distortion OD... sweet...

the newest Party Favor Hi Five by Mellowtone actually does an incredible transparent overdrive. A bit less compressed than my Singing Tree, albeit lower gain.

My brain just hatched an idea: Singing Tree/Hi Five shootout vid :joy:

I'm a huge fan of Barber Electronics. The Burn Unit is sweet, the Direct Drive as well.

Visual Sound's Route 66 has the original TS808 circuit in one side and a Ross comp. clone on the other, it also has a bass boost switch to level out the originals mid hump/bass suck...superbadass little box...in my experiences if you try to lean on the Tubescreamer too much it sounds like screaming assholes...if your amp sounds smoking good to start with , the TS just gooses it into submission...esp. through a Plexi or a JTM45  ...my old Orange's & Fender's sound like shit w/ it though...guess it depends on the player and the amp setup

I like the English Muff'n. Besides that and a soundtank tubescreamer with a horrible bypass that I have, I've never really played that many overdrives. :idk:
