How could you forget Eric Dolphy?

I never really got into Metheny. Any suggestions?

Some more kick-ass Jazz...

This is for people who like their music with distortion:

Monno

Zu
http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=B1t2G0zr4Ww

And this is amazing stuff too:

Derek Bailey

Fred Frith

Peter Brötzmann

(Couldn't find a track I know, so this might be not so good.)

Steve Lehmann

(Check out his Octet, that's what he's talking about.)

Enough for now. I didn't even have breakfast. But I wanted to add to this thread very badly.

I've only recently discovered Peters awesomeness! I'll go look for the 10tet. I'd love to find his record with Harry Miller and Louis Moholo heard they're among the best he did.

I think it's rare though. At least I've never seen it.

His son Caspar Brötzmann is badass too! And plays guitar, so he's the right one for this forum.
Hisspace

Ever since I've discovered how much I like european Free Jazz I've been meaning to Check out the Globe Unity Orchestra. Maybe that's a good idea for my evening...

open but hardly touched was never released on cd. hopefully atavistic will put out a reissue of it on the unheard music series label...

this is very good... http://www.fmp-label.de/fmplabel/catalo ... 4_035.html

as is this off the the unheard music series... http://www.atavistic.com/albums.php?id=173

the chicago tentet is a "free jazz" all star line up. the last albums i got were signs and images, both of them came out in 2004. there are a few newer ones that i have not heard, but i should order them now that you got me thinking about them again.

link to the first release. i think they are on their third press of this... http://okkadisk.com/releases/od12022.html

:) :) :joy: :joy:

Yep, that's why I can't find it. Haven't had the time to check the bay and pawn shops and used record stores for it. But yeah, seeing it get rereleased would be just as good. I've gotten out of the habit of collecting.

Schwarzwaldfahrt seems to be very good, judging by the description. When I've first seen that album the name was repelling to me. The Black Forest is loathable. But maybe, just maybe they did the right thing with it.

Globe Unity seems to be very weird. At least at the first listen. (I got this one: http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=15197) Odd music. But I can see how that's supposed to be humorous.

I dunno about you guys, but I love jazz fusion. A lot.

Chick Corea

Or, Jaco Pastorius

Though, to sum these two artists (or any jazz artist for that matter) in one or two songs is impossible.
