IDK, I think metal demos are on the rise, ambient has been dead for a while, and blues can actually be a little bit cooler with Jack White and his pedals getting in on it...but only then.
Andy is gold but never metal enough. He plays some Black Sabbath and Motorhead once in a while and that's it. High gain chug pedals aren't really his regular thing though...

Yeah, there are some decent metal demos out there. I just find when I google "pedal + demo" I just end up with trash.

I hear a lot of surf licks because of my never-ending spring reverb obsession. Weirdly, the most interesting demos I've been hearing lately have been from JHS. Lots of 90's alt-rock, shoegaze, and even psychedelia, no blues licks to speak of.

You forgot when he covered the most metal band ever

Now that I think of it I miss bill rupert's demos, effectology got me hooked on useless weird effects. It's not like he's gone but he only makes demos when EHX drops a new thing. It would be so cool to see if he demoed other pedal companies stuff with whats avalible now compared to when EHX was one of the weird effects makers. I kinda also hate those kinda demos too because everything sounds good cause of the cool context, song, loop, background noise, ect. it's like with knobs who could sell anything cause he's so good at making micro-songs or what you wanna call it.

Bonus metal moment

Somebody here criticized me for playing "blooze licks" in a demo because I bent a string...

I'm gonna bend strings...

you just gotta slow the video playback to half so it becomes a doom demo

it seems like the post-Knobs style of chimey, mellow post-rock-ish loops has overtaken the blues wankery to me. or maybe those are just the only demo videos i can endure! :D
