Isn't that what's it has been created for? :erm:

I used to use the classic MXR EQ with all the frequencies cranked as volume boost, but I think that's no secret to anyone.

I used the Fabrikat as Tape flanger setting the delay to the lowest value and with little to none shift, then turn up the feedback a bit if I wanted it to be more drastic. I think it was mode 1 or 2 in the first bank, don't remember.

playing blues on a bluesdriver is just as wrong as playing jazz on a jazzmaster

Or playing bass through a Bassman.

You mean bass right?

Yes.

I had dropped saying something about playing “How High the Moon” on a Les Paul and wasn’t careful enough with the broader swing.

I did just that, a BF head. :)

My main not main thing though are my rack of Digitech RDS series delays.

I rarely use them for delay. It's not their purpose.

It's the non-destructive to what's in the delay line modulation - take a flanger out to 4 or 8 seconds, and now we're cooking with gas.

The modulation is applied to what's in the delay buffer - there's a simple sample and hold function as well. You can non-destructively adjust delay time (within the button setting - so you can't switch between 20ms and 4s, as an example) as well, speeding it up and down while modulation twisting the rate and LFO depth etc.

Basically it's warp things to hell and back again. No presets, nothing but knobs and a prayer.

There's a reason I have three or more in my rack at any time. :)

this might fall under the remit of "intended" use, as it's a spring reverb simulation, but if you have an unplugged jack running into the boss frv1 you can simulate spring crashes by touching the jack plug. it's noisy!

That FRV1 has to be one of the least cool looking pedals ever.

I mean, it's not actively bad, like say everything Tortuga has ever gone within 6 feet of, but it's like the pedal equivalent of a pen shield for your shirt pocket.

it's definitely goofy looking, but i quite like it. a fusion of midcentury beigeness and 80s japanese techiness. also, it's the only reverb pedal that sounds good.

Could care less what it looks like - it has THE sound and feel.
