I’ve played my Golden Horse a fair bit and it is a bloody good pedal. Far better quality than anything should have in its price range, even has 1n34 germanium diodes. Sounds killer. Really nice as a low gain od, or for smashing other pedals. But it sounds pretty good through the whole gain range tbh.

TC has a Clone due out.
First run has germanium.
Not due til August, have one on pre-order.

So does klons rock on bass or have I've been shut in for way too long to hear the bass cut?

It depends. If they're tuned for bass, they do:
(That one has resistors swapped out to make it more friendly to the low end.)

Just got myself the Mosky Silver Horse, with a switch - curious what the switch is doing? Is it like the KTR - buffer on/true bypass? Or something else?

I think it changes the clipping.

I guess it's really just a "factory" mod. Some of the resistors are changed to improve the low end response. Simple as that.
The gold and silver are exactly the same circuit. Just different color enclosures.

Although, Finnegan did change component values slightly over time.

i'm just surprized how undocumented it is.
i still think my klone sounds pretty rippin on bass. maybe even better through a blackface dual showman...

Well, Finnegan doesn't really like to talk about it and the circuit is gooped.
He does like Fender amps though.

The ARC Klone isn't a totally accurate klone, but with the bass boost on, at some settings, it had more bass than the bass Centaur. I don't have any other experience with bass klones. Although, the madbean klone I tried (that skully built & let me borrow) was perhaps the closest to a stock Centaur.
If you're looking for a bass klone, I'd maybe suggest building your own from a kit and just substituting resistor values until you've got what you wanna hear. I don't know how other klones improve the bass response, but with the bass Centaur it was only different resistor values.

I hadn't heard the Boss & Klon rumor, uni, but it wouldn't really surprise me.

Nah, the Boss Klon was a pedal YouTuber’s April Fools gag.
