Yeah me too. I guess I'd rather have them then lose the extra functionality but I'd rather have more knobs...or those double knobs like the metal zone has.

Here's my take on secondary functions: only good ones are set-and-forget ones.
I.e. the CT5 is amazing but i rarely use the secondary functions because i can't keep them in mind and the pedal resets everything everytime is powered.

I’ve thought about blowing up the CT5 cheat sheet PDF thing into a wall poster for my gear corner. Look, I get it, it’s on me for not woodshedding it and learning it as an instrument. But I want the help getting there.

I hate functions I have to memorize or look up. So my SRV-2000 stays in the default reverb mode rather than the “secret” delay mode. I would rather go to a good app or editing program, even if it’s relatively inconvenient, because it’s clear what it can do and how to do it.

Yup me two, all my pedals are probably the most basic version of each of their kind. I like figuring out combos of them on/off/etc and doing the doing the rest with the volume and tone knobs. Pedal selection and settings set to whatever im feeling at the moment or going for naturally

I give the original CT5 a special exemption--for whatever reason, I'm mostly able to remember the secondary functions. Maybe because the primary functions are also obscure. But those secondary functions are truly bonus features, whereas on the Nightly firmware you really need to know the secondary knob functions if you're going to do anything. The Nightly firmware is more like Meris or Alexander pedals in that sense, which is probably why I don't use the Nightly more.

It's a cliche for people to look askance at or be intimidated by Chase Bliss's dipswitches, but I appreciate how straightforward they are. I have all of these pedals with instructions like "hold down the left footswitch while disconnecting and reconnecting the power and then turn the Mix knob past noon while chanting jai guru deyva om backwards and now you can control one knob with an expression pedal."
