Yeah it is now like half an hour left until lunch break for me so here are some things i found out about our fav $22 object

Metal Zone

Because of so much hate this pedal has received, it is only a matter of time until it became an overpriced classic that makes your face go like this



According to my calculations, it is about to happen. Boss might have slowed down the curve by releasing a waza craft version, but the inevitable can only be held back so long. Apparently, running the thing in the fx-loop of your amp makes the mt-2 chug and sound good. But whatever, that is totally uninteresting compared to all of these uses:

History of fcknoise history with the metal zone
It is a very short history. I played one gig in middle school with my band that had the name Zleipner (Like odins horse but with a Z - very cool - and also later I found out some people thought we were a white power band, despite being 13 years old). My only pedal that night was the behringer clone of the metal zone, the UM300. Everyone in the crowd made the Good Tone Face the entire night.

Later I found that for non-synth/non-metal purposes it is super decent to use as a boost and an EQ. The EQ has a lot of power and it can make your weak single coils sound like they went to the gym.

Aaand that is 12 o clock i am heading on my lunch break

This into a Randall head is the entirety of Crowbar's tone.

2. If you control the treble and play it into a good clean amp it sounds fucking awesome live.

3. this pedal is totally ILF.
It is cheap and you can dial in an insane variety of both standard and weird ass tones. It has Line 6 Spider Insane Channel levels of gain.

4. It's easy to mod.

It is the fucking best.

There are very few reasons not to own a metal zone. If it only had a second output to run into itself. I guess that can be achieved with a splitter cable

This has quietly been happening for a couple years now with the FX86 and exploded with the Jason Lamb episode of the JHS show.

Metal Zone is a damn good pedal with lots of EQ options. I don’t buy the hate. I love it on bass.

Definitely those Yamaha distortions look really cool and I’ve been eyeballing a few used ones.

Back before I couldnt afford pedals my favourite sound in guitar rig 4 was two micro synths and two metal zones in parallel with some delay and lfo on the mid frequency. I blew my interface doing no-input mixing with that

I want a second BitQuest so I can actually use the dirty side, that's some tasty digital nasty. I only wish the bass trimpot were an external knob :/ I dream of a custom BQ with that knobby and another footswitch or two.
