It sounds good loud, it sounds good quiet, it just sounds good. Concerning taking pedal dirt well and having lots of headroom: let's just say shoegazers use JC for a reason. It's simple, not too expensive, sturdy, and just all things good. If you're happy with the way it sounds, I can't see it being a bad purchase.
I appreciate the perspective but as I said in my original post, I've come to REALLY not be a fan. I had a 120 for years until a few years ago and every time I try one now I just can't. I like listening to them a lot, but not for me.
Oh, sorry! I guess I misread "JC" in your OP for something else.
What about the Lab Series L5? I understand that's the go-to for people who like the JC in theory, but for some reason "just can't", as you put it.

Can't swear to how true it is, but I remember reading somewhere that the Lab Amps were designed by The Bob Moog

Yeah, apparently they were a Moog/Gibson thing. Nice pedigree.

If it needs to be light, the new Tonemaster Twins sound awesome and take pedals really well? If you want a bit more gain the Marshall Origin 50 is a great choice, has an effects loop and a boost built in? Older JCM 800 combos aren’t insanely expensive either.
I’ve been considering Origin 50 as a potential next amp because of those features. Just concerned about QC on those.

There was an L11 head in a shop near me for a while for a great price but the shop owner would not sell it until he fixed the fan inside and could not be bothered to fix said fan in order to sell it to me. The shop closed like a year later and who knows what the hell happened to that amp.
