Played it a bunch now and have some thoughts:
Neck profile is perfect, easily my favourite electric guitar profile that I've played, not too thin, not too thick, should please both camps.
Brushed aluminium was 100% the right choice, it's a lot comfier to play than polished.
Pickups are taking me a while to get used to, haven't opened it up to look but however he's set it up has given them a broad spectrum; the tone knob goes from pitch black to quite shrill and they are very loud on max volume. After messing around with settings I've got them where I like them, which is probably good for versatility. He included two sets of pickup covers in case the nickel ones were a bit microphonic (didn't charge me extra for the covers) which I might try at some point just out of curiosity.
I have no idea what it weighs, sorry Kate, I don't own any scales anymore lol. It doesn't feel much heavier than my mustang, certainly not as heavy as previous EGC's that I've owned.
The finish on the wood is great, I used to be a furniture finisher and can be a bit unfairly critical of wood finishes but it's immaculate on this guitar. Carves are comfortable and well done.
It feels a lot like it was tailored to people who play much more aggressive music than me and does shine at distorted tones, which I never really use anymore lol, but all the volume on tap and clarity does make for some nice cleans.
The differences I can tell between the DNG and EGC's I've owned are quite slight. There are some CNC lines still faintly visible and some curved lines aren't quite as smooth on the headstock. Considering this is the 6th guitar he's made and that those CNC lines don't affect the playable areas I'm not bothered at all (actually find them quite charming in a way). Same tonal characteristics, better neck profile (most similar to the Spencer from EGC) and gains huge bonus points for the background. Overall, considering the price and service, miles ahead of EGC with decades less experience.
All in all, very happy with it and will recommend anyone curious about aluminium necks give him a shout. I can't really remember when I ordered this guitar, it was either January or April, either way less than a year. There were several delays in it but he was always up front about what those delays were, and would approach me to tell me about what was going on. Considering I asked for extra things that he hadn't tried yet and was the first for a few things, I think he did a great job.
Oh, also included a nice hardcase and some microfiber cloths to keep it clean, quite thoughtful!
PPS: Kevin Burkett/EGC folks if you stumble across this, I used the money I got from selling your guitars and cancelling an order you took too long to fulfil, to pay for this. Treat people better.
