i knew i was going to forget somebody i love, and it's Brix Smith Start of The Fall and Brix and the Extricated. here's two sides of Brix from her most recent album. i particularly adore the way she snarls through the chaos of the bridge on "Vanity" from 2:38 and then breaks free and soars above the reprise of the chorus at 3:00-3:10.

I'm a bit late to the party, but there's so much good stuff here. I tend towards women doing rock, but anything unexpected is ok by me. The Breeders - Son of Three. This album kind of got overlooked, but it really grew on me. Cool song, not too long.

Heartless Bastards - Hold Your Head High. Erika Wennerstrom doing a solo acoustic version isn't really representative of the band, but this showcases her voice nicely. The band's catalog runs from Crazy Horse tinged garage to classic rock to Americana.
