You are right, I have never heard a Twin drip. I am mixing two issues: I want a drippy verb tank, and the Twin isn't the right fit for me beyond just lackluster reverb.

I satisfied mine with the Boss FRV-1 after watching enough videos to make my head spin (and having quite a bit of experience with actuals). Other stuff has come out since (and I tried the Source One Series True Spring, and it wasn't bad...but not enough to make me change).

It'll do for me, and isn't leaving my board - it wasn't cheap when I got it (it was $150ish new when it was available, and that's what I paid)....isn't cheap now, but...it does one thing stupidly well.

thinking building a pre amp controller for a tank is the way now. then tolexing some frame.. there is just too much.

I had one of those Realistic ones and I wasn't impressed. I hear folks use them for circuit bending though, so that might be cool if you are thinking of going that route. In summary, unless you have heard one enough to know it is definitely something you can use in your tool box, I probably wouldn't spend too much time and money trying to hunt one down. My opinion.

Thanks! I was looking for one but I hear it's more like a short delay and that the gain works more like a fuzz of sorts? That it works as a mic preamp is quite cool as well I guess, but I wouldn't pay more than 50€ for one (and there hardly are any in europe anyways)

I wouldn't pay that for one of those Realistic units.

To say it works as a fuzz of sorts is always from someone trying to dump it, not keep it!

And the verb isn't really a delay either, it's just sort...of spongy, MONSTER TRUCK RACING announcement terrible that doesn't get past the one thing it does.

Yeah, those Realistic units just do slap back echo. I know some people who do enjoy the blown out tones, but it's something of a one trick pony.

I was unsupervised in a thrift store the other day and wound up carting this home:



It's a Niles SV-4 speaker system attenuator, with mutes and a 12 position level control per pair of speakers (supports four) from one stereo amplifier. What does this have to do with reverb you say?

I'm planning on using this to mix out the send levels to various mechanical transducers from a single stereo reverb send amplifier. Right now I'm planning on dedicating one send to a pair of piano soundboards with transducers attached, maybe throw a couple poor man's plate reverbs on another send, spring transducers, and then something like the Cooper Sound Cube ala speaker separated from a mic by a length of hose.

It'll meet the criteria of being funky, but forget about portability.

Wedge is a lot of fun with synths imo, and has a couple other neat tricks like 4-voice pitch shifting.
