i've been curious about these for awhile. how would you describe this? does it have a real tube compressor vibe? the online demos i've seen are terrible.
It's not an LA-2A or anything, but it does bring warm, tubey coloration to whatever you run through it and can go from relatively subtle to pretty extreme in Squashed mode. Also dirties up nicely. Compressor demos are always hit or miss, as the effects can be too subtle to really be audible on a youtube vid, plus, in my experience at least, 70% of musicians have no idea how to set up or play a compressor to get anything meaningful out of it, especially if it has more than two knobs. If you run across one for like $80-100, it's worth a shot to see if you like its flavor.
cool. i'll put it on my to-do list. i suspect it'd be good for shoegaze, especially with NOS Amperex or Telefunken toobs in.

Thermionic Effects TE.01. Runs at high voltage. Perfect 2nd channel type of sound for your amp. Rare as duck. No idea what it is based on.

And lest we forget the TC $50 Tube Pilot, which despite how it sounds, still seems worth a shot:

All those Vox pedals sound good to great, at least the ones I've tried.

For those who spend their time dreaming about GT120’s or juicy oranges, here is a pedal quite similar in topology as those monster tone machines! All tube signalpath of course.
Fudge. That just might satisfy my Orange jones....

If I had a Big Trees, I'd probably use it as an amp. :idk: :snax:

Yeah, it's supposed to be pretty versatile in its applications.

I've tried the SD Twin Tube Classic but was pretty underwhelmed with the sound. Supposedly the Blue is the good one, but I haven't tried that one or the Mayhem.

I think those use the microtubes, so I guess they sound a little different from typical 12ax7 etc.

Link? Can't seem to find it, maybe it's gone :idk:

Edit: nevermind, found it. I'm going for a mij Tube King instead though. Comes with a EU-friendly psu, instead of a US one.
