Dungeons and Daddies is my favorite lately. It’s about five dads from our dimension who are flung into the fantasy world of DnD.
The Greatest Generation is also excellent. It’s two dudes talking summarizing and critiquing every Star Trek episode beginning with TNG. It’s surprisingly hilarious.

Added some new history podcasts to the app tonight to listen while I worked:
History of Byzantium - I've read a fair amount of classical Roman history (and listened to Mike Duncan's History of Rome podcast) but I know mostly jack and shit about eastern Rome/Byzantium after 400AD.
Slow Burn - it's Slate so ehhh but the newest series is on David Duke
Medieval Death Trip - not really sure what this one's about but I saw it recommended

I listen to chapo trap house and trashfuture, both are the same podcast pretty much. its like the UK and US versions of being leftist and making fun of libs and conservatives.

I also listen a lot to audiobooks through librivox.org, its public domain books read by volunteers. Quality is sometimes not great but it is a good way to read/listen some classics

I wish Chapo would stick to 'media criticism,' they're at their best talking about movies and TV with a veneer of ideological riffing on top or doing reading series. Gets kind of bad when they don't have that underpinning and just talk about current events (often because of an Amber hot take dominating it).

That's why I like Citations Needed. I've only listened to a couple episodes of Chapo Trap House, but it felt a little too "edgy cool kids" for me :idk:

I mean that is fair, sometimes there are some takes that can be a bit much. But these people are not my rulers or leaders of the revolution, I am fine with disagreeing with them. Mostly I listen for the fun of them making fun of some insufferable op-ed dude

I've heard good about this one, I'll give it a listen :)

In this vein I finally listened to some TrueAnon and I'm into it. Brace Belden seemed pretty annoying in his appearances elsewhere but Liz keeps it moving (and keeps him from getting too annoying).

I started listening to Uhh Yeah Dude at work. I thought it was stupid the first time I tried it a few months ago but it's grown on me.

I love this slightly more than I hate it. There's a lot of good though. they have another podcast
called ballin out super where they watch all of dragon ball super. again equally cringey and brilliant.

wtf is a classic of course.

Sacha Dunable from intronaut and Dunable guitars had an awesome podcast for a while called Fight song Podcast where he and his co-host pit themed songs against each other and argue about which one is better. looks like the original site is gone. sad. https://archive.org/details/podcast_fig ... 1188176364

Knowledge Fight is absolutely my favorite. Two Chicago comedians analyze Alex Jones. The original conceit was that one host did a ton of research and the other reacted to clips and stories in real time. It has evolved into an increasingly thorough debunking and deconstruction of Far Right conspiracy culture. It just hits me the right way. Wrestling, novelty beverages, and weird references all kind of click for me.

The Projection Booth is an extended analysis and look at movies, from high cinema to grindhouse gore, by former zine publisher Mike White. Well researched and always interesting, I can listen to a four hour podcast about a film I've never seen or geek out over an interview with the principals behind a movie that means a lot to me. I cannot recommend it enough.

All Fantasy Everything. Three comedians and guests fantasy draft non-sports things the way other people draft fantasy sports. From the Taco Bell menu to Gangsta Rap songs to the Perfect Lazy Sunday, the topics are wide-ranging. Like hanging out with cool friends.
My force of habit, I am an insect
I have to confess I'm proud as hell of that fact
