Well, I have to disagree here.
Fender Play keeps people interested in their new gear. Learning to play REALLY helps. And fender is focusing on catching and keeping NEW customers, in addition to serving the established base while Gibson is trying to wring more money out of the old-school customers. If you want to keep selling guitars in a world that is NO LONGER FOCUSED ON GUITAR as the primary means of music creation, you gotta meet people where they are.
Online. At school. At home. While being female. Half of fender's new sales last year were to women. They are marketing to young women and girls just as much as they are the boys, and offering lessons to everyone. So I see that it doesn't really apply to you, someone who already knows how to play and what they like, but you don't need to be marketed to with nearly the same focus, intensity, or regularity.
And last but not least, Maple forever, rosewood is farts.
All great points, but I have to shine a light on timeless wisdom when I see it.aen wrote:Maple forever, rosewood is farts.
Love the finished board on a Rick. Love everything about a Rick tbh.friendship wrote:y'all are crazy for wanting a finished fretboard

My newest Fender has the "satin" finish and I quite like it tbhaen wrote:I mean, I really wish Fender would go back to finishing the BACKS of the necks, too. and don't give me that "it's a satin finish bro" bullshit. That's some IKEA project nonsense.

The back of the neck on my Fender is sanded off and I think it's wonderfulaen wrote:I mean, I really wish Fender would go back to finishing the BACKS of the necks, too. and don't give me that "it's a satin finish bro" bullshit. That's some IKEA project nonsense.
This is one of those rare cases where an opinion can be wrong.calfzilla wrote:The back of the neck on my Fender is sanded off and I think it's wonderfulaen wrote:I mean, I really wish Fender would go back to finishing the BACKS of the necks, too. and don't give me that "it's a satin finish bro" bullshit. I'd like to note that it's likely for legal and financial purposes that they started doing that.aen wrote:And last but not least, Maple forever, rosewood is farts.rfurtkamp wrote:"maple everything")
