Player for player, among the top-tier power trios re: musicianship.
Prone to overplaying & self-indulgence of the frequently-impressive-but-mostly-boring variety.
Above average lyrics, but the messenger's timbre and delivery
If I'm listening to Rush it's probably because someone else picked the song. I'd prob listen to Rush on purpose if they were an instrumental post-rock group or had a non-Geddy singer/frontman. I have legit respect for those fellas in large part due to their talent & longevity (plus being substantive) but none of their records are special or personally significant to me. I did scoop a vg+ Moving Pictures in the mid 00s, for a liquidation bargain when my fav (local) record store closed despite my best efforts to keep it in business

Geddy's vocals are tight and you're all fuckin haters.
I learned Tom Sawyer on bass last night and that song is so much fun to play.

It's a great bass line for sure.
I remember back in like 5th or 6th grade when that album came out, I would walk around the playground blasting that song on my boombox.
Do the kids still listen to boomboxes?

When your drummer writes the lyrics....that's a bad sign.
Maybe partying will help.

also, when your drummer steals the hat Eddie Murphy wore in The Golden Child...that's another bad sign.
Maybe partying will help.

When your band is named after video tape head cleaner, that's a bad sign.
Say, this is fun. It could be it's own thread.

When said drummer who writes lyrics was influenced by Ayn Rand, that's a REALLY bad sign.
Ok, so he's moved on from that a bit, but there's really no excuse for this fucking hat.
Maybe partying will help.

those hats were already heinous when Joe Zawinul wore them 40 years ago.
