Nah JK. I may actually buy a metal muff as you can literally get them for 50 bucks and it has a frequency selectable top boost. That seems like it's worth a look.
Thurston Moore is using one nowadays, too

the accountant for sure. running that little guy into anything will goose your sustain to infinity. as stated here:

This thing with an EGC just goes on forever and ever and ever and ever. Accountant > fuck/mini is a pretty eternal sound, put some low mix delay afterwards and you've got something that will go a while.

I wouldn't mind trying an accountant one of these days, and seeing if it lives up to the hype. Anyone know what it's like with heavy amp distortion?

It would bring me great joy if Metal Muffs selling on reverb became like $200 and had post copy to the tune of "If you're looking at this...you already know what it is...the legendary Metal Muff"

"Just bought one but it's not working on my board."
"My balls are emitting a foul odor and I need to go to Peru for experimental treatment. Kills me to do this but I'm selling the Metal Muff for $400"

Sweet man, I'm a real big fan as well. Glad to brighten your day with that information. :D My profile picture with the blue box and phase 90 is a photo from one of his live setups at some point in his career-don't know when.

On the topic of muffs, my personal favorite muffish pedal I've tried is the Noise Floor/Soda Meiser.

The Metal Muff and the trè boutique ZVEX Box of Metal (which Nels Cline and Bill Frisell swear by!) are pretty much variations on the same Metal Zone circuit.

It stands to reason that it's only gonna go up in value...

But for real... I was blown away by the Digitech Freqout when I tried it in the store I work at. I was just rocking it solo, but I can only imagine what it'd sound like pushing my fuzzes, pitch shifters and delay/reverbs!
I used the HOG2 and the Gliss setting as the central component of my board when I was playing in a noisy jazz group...project...thing.
It's really great for shifting textures, able to hang back in a live mix as the "bed", but it's also got great dynamics, allowing me to really dig in and make the "swirlies" stick out when they needed to.
I wasn't a fan of how the SuperEgo responded. It felt like it clipped in a nasty way with heavy signals, but it could've just been my setup/power.
I haven't gotten a chance to play the new Plus, but it looks promising.

Now that I'm between projects, I'm finding myself using less fuzz, but more compression (with an hollowbody Epiphone Granada) and tons of reverb (with sub octaves!) for washes and washes of overlapping overtones!
Mix in a little Hex Revolver, Raptio, and Boss DSD-3 for some glitchy spice, and I'm blissed out after a long day at work.
