Also, would using a vocoder be against the rules? Cause then I'd need to use something as a carrier, like a synth.

I assumed Drod would be mastering too. if Drod doesn't want to master or doesn't have time though, i would be happy to step as backup too. I have been listening to Vol. 1 too, and like it a lot

I'm not game keeper dos but I'd say... maybe?
But if you use another sample as the carrier it's a clear win!
I agree with osc about vague sample rules re length and complexity. Not that a free for all was unworkable last year but I gravitated to the short ones anyway because they're easier to use.

What I usually do with music I make is to make little guitar loops and sample them. But maybe that counts as recorded music? Not saying I want to use it for myself but I was thinking more as a submission

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The other thing would feel like cheating anyway.

Alright, nice to wake up and see some more direction for this, even if that direction is: there is no direction.
If Drod doesn't want to master it, I would be happy to as well in the end.

Sooo,
if I counted right the boat is full?
Admittedly I did have a place on the last one that I had to flunk out on (shame! the shame!)
But if you there'S room for me, I'd like to give this another go, yes

I would be interested in taking part if there is any space, if not I'll watch or listen from the sidelines

You're both in. I wasn't expecting the list to be full by Sunday
IF anyone else wants in you're welcome to join, I guess I'll put the hard cap at 20 just for size of sample library reasons?

Found this gem in the 2016 thread
D.o.S. wrote:as for content of sample: it's all up to you, although if you send me a four hour drone, I might speed it up until it is 3 seconds long, and likewise, if I submit a snare hit you might stretch it to be four hours. What the sound ends up looking like is really beyond the control of the contributor, to some degree -- which might be an important thing to keep in mind here if you're inclined to submit something.

If we're going to 20 participants, how about we down it to one sample each.. That way we get a little more limited

Awesome, thanks! We'll get creating something weird and wonderful. Is there a date that the sample has to be ready by? I couldn't see one mentioned.
