If so I'm surprised you would say that. HM is by far the closest group of people on the internet I've ever met and the vibe has been consistently positive for the last 10 years. There is a lot of mutual support and the overwhelming volume of posts are about peoples lives and not about gear. ILF seems way more prone to negativity and in-fighting than HM has ever been. Sorry to hear your experience wasn't positive if you were ever a member.

Fine I wasn’t a member. That’s why I said maybe. The exclusivity factor always annoyed me as did the over priced effects. Plus I’ve met several members that were complete tools.

In retrospect you’re probably right and my post is misguided. I’ll admit my faults. I’ll also agree with ILF being negative and I’ve often thought of leaving the forum for that exact reason. Well that and the constant circle jerk.

I’m lost. I always assumed a hard yes on circle jerks.

Its an invite-only forum because everyone there knows the other members through whoever invited them. Its that way to keep it from becoming like every other forum on the web. Its not about being exclusive. As for the pedals being overpriced that's entirely the doing of non-members who have somehow acquired a pedal and then tried to flip it for big money. A while back there were some folks who got invites purely to acquire pedals and then flame out. Resale of HM pedals on HM is always at the original price of ~$129 and when the various runs were built about $80 of each pedal's price went to a charity chosen by the forum. From the outside I can see how you might think the purpose of HM is to exclude people. Its really just to make the forum a happy community where people feel free to share stuff they otherwise wouldn't.

I'd have to look through the archives a bit. JHS is doing a classic JHS thing where they use someone else's trade dress or name to sell pedals. Any site where you need an invite to sign up is either doing something shady/illegal or is just super, super lame.
