I've heard good things about the FTelettronica, and I like the sound and look of them as well. I think they really nailed it too, even if it is a blatant copy of the first clones that I built. But, hey, I'll take that as a compliment any day of the week, and twice on Sunday's.
There's the ELTA units too, but I haven't heard much about them. They look legit though.
All in all, there's PLL for the masses now, at reasonable prices, so overall, that makes me happy. In my book, it's the arpeggiator function that really makes the PLL a lot of fun to work with. Ironic that Schumann had started out by adding the jack to the units, but never got to make the add on unit. Would have been neat to see what would have sprung out of his brain on that one. In any case, the EHX 8 Step was the best thing that ever happened to the PLL, if though it needs modding to work right with the PLL. Something that I wish the folks at EHX would address.
As for the Leo X, I just conversed with The Dude yesterday, and he noted that the clone in my video sounds even better than his original unit. Of course, we did take things up a notch with the expression pedal, but sometimes my lunacy knows no boundaries. As much as I like to keep a classic in stock trim, there's always that bug in my brain that says, "What if......?". I'm just so happy that PMowdes is willing to roll with (tolerate?) my crazy ideas when committing something to PCB.
