Or close this one as well and have this kind of thing in the Boss thread that exists somewhere.

I didn't close the thread btw. I just suggested it be closed. :)

For whatever it's worth the Metalzone/Vitriol demo did not sound exactly alike to me, just very similar. I'm not sure if you ever said which was which but I clearly preferred the sound of the second clip. This is despite your efforts to dial them in to the same tone. If the question we are supposed to be asking is which one sounds better, for me that was easy. If you think they sounded exactly alike then I can see why you would be destined to be the Bossmann, all things being equal why not use price and availability as the guiding principles of your sound. I'm not knocking Boss, I've owned a few Boss and Roland products and think some of them are great, even legendary; I should have never ever sold my Juno-60 and will regret it until I die. And I will be buried with my ODB-3, even though I don't use it, it was my first...

I want to try an ODB-3 for guitar. I think the opening for this thread started good though, praising boss without ripping the super huge catergory of "boutique". Progress.

However people know about boss. Like, we all do, we've all owned a couple and they are cool and all but have you seen what music people make here? To quote someone who I can't remember "I feel someone on ILF drops 300$ on a pedal it probably sounds like a Super Nintendo holocaust". We also talk about "normal" dirts, but people are also interested in making weird shit using weird shit, perhaps more so than on other forums

Somewhere out there, there is a DODduude69 that absolutely will not rest until every single person on the face of the earth has received the gospel of the DOD Punkifier.
He ain't got time for yer booteek Messa Boogies or your Les Paul Reed Smits.

All he needs is his 1988 Peavey Predator, his aforementioned Punkifier, and his all tube Crate Blue Voodoo with matching blue tolex cab, of course! Those are his Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John; and with those he can shred EVERY classic from Dokken to Ratt.

Yea but he has some "original" stuff as well I believe. I mean...maybe? Does he? I actually don't know. LOL
"But he only uses the DD-2 chip (as if that makes any fucking sense)" said the Cornish sniffer.

AFAIK, all his pedals are clones of something.
Considering that the circuit boards are covered with goop (which prevents any actual repair on those pieces of shit), I would never even remotely consider buying one, either. :flame:

I exclusively use Overloaded 90s Behringer Mixers for my bass distortion needs.

I also liked my ODB-3 until skullservant made me a LM308 Rat with a clean blend and now every thing else on bass pales in comparison.

ODB is fucking awesome. I'm modding mine to make it more awesome/even worse.

Aren't most of the "weird" bands in the 90s using Boss or some other non booteek stuff back in the day?
Give any shitty Boss pedals to the one person with a fucked up creative mind and they will create a wall of Amigas and C64s sound instead.

There must be better examples but the ones I can think of right now: Lightning Bolt, Melt Banana, Black Dice. And probably not "weird" enough but GY!BE pedalboards were mostly Boss, but don't worry they are cool now.
