If you want to suspend a note and play over it you don't want paraphony. With paraphony everyone you hit a new note it retriggers the Envelope. If you don't have a lot to spend then the cheapest your gonna get in the analog realm for polyphony is a minilogue. Other wise start looking into used digital stuff that emulates subtractive synthesis for something similar to analog.

Yeah but then you would be replacing a really solid sounding analog synth for basically a Line-6 multi-fx pedal.

Did you just compare an OP-1 with a Line 6 Multi-fx?
I mean, I've never played an OP-1, but I know that it is so much more than that

I think it's the other way around, comparing volcas to multi-fx ..

No, I don't think so.

inb4 78$ Line 6 Multi Fx sounds exactly like Teenage Engineering OP-1

It's like comparing a memory man to a line-6 m9. Sure the M9 does more sounds pretty decent and can get pretty close to a memory man but it's not a memory man. A Brute is a solid analog monosynth. Sure a Op-1 sounds good and can do more but in the analog monosynth category it can not compete with the Brute.

As much as I love my Minibrute, they can't really be compared to an OP-1 or vice versa. Inherently different machines

Lemy's got a fair point, but it's a bit of a conversational red herring since no one is really talking about getting the OP-1 to replace the Brute as an analog monosynth, as far as I can see, rather suggesting it just as a replacement for the Brute in general.

Yeah it's a fair point, that's not what I'm saying. To go for an Op-1 would be going for something entirely different.

Plus if your starting to go into the $900 range with the OP-1 I personally would save up a little more and pick up something like a used Prophet 08.

I haven't posted in here but I'll say get something with 2 oscillators per voice (not a Microbrute). Puny ass 1 oscillator shit can fuck right off.
