You know how to make a guy feel wanted. Totally made my day.

I totally want/need a silverface Twin, but that has to wait. I'm going to build a Hot Cake/Slam Punk twin pedal, I think. The Slam Punk has a couple of fun mods (toggling the input and output caps, switchable clipping) and the Hot Cake should push it in fun ways.

He used the Hotcake later, probably right around Brighten The Corners when they overhauled some of their guy, maybe right at the end of the Wowee Zowee tours.

Early Pavement, specifically Slanted, were all Rats, no muffs. Slanted was a Rat 2 and they all used Turbo Rats live, I've also seen video of Spiral using a Boss DF-2 but I don't think that lasted long at all. Crooked Rain had no pedals used, just a lot of different amps.

Hey dude, good to see you.

I don't know the band you all are talking about but I was gonna suggest stuff more in regards to cheap. I don't know how well you've followed the pedal scene since you sold it all or when this exactly happened, but DOD has released a bunch of cool stuff. I'd get a 250 reissue for the lighter OD purposes.

My current dirt looks like: The Syle Singularity>TC Electronics Grand Magus (RAT)>DOD Boneshaker. If the Singularity doesn't work out, a 250 or Distortion+ is a possibility.

(personally, i think everything after the 'Watery,Domestic' EP is garbage)
Yeah Gary Young's drumming on Summer Babe (Winter Version) set the tone as much as Malkmus' guitar; there is NO bottom end to speak of.
Def Rat+Fender all over that album. When they switched drummers for Crooked Rain the recordings gained fidelity.
