Akai Headhrush. It's not fancy, but the digital delay is very good, the tape delay is excellent, and it's a very capable looper as well. No idea what it goes for in the US, but in the UK it's about £140..
It goes for $199 in America. Damn -- that's a good $30-$40 less than what you pay.
That's a dangerous topic to start... if a DE Hyperion or Aenima gor for $95 in the US, they go for $120-150 in the UK from a large-ish retailer.
But I digress... The ehx MM with Hazarai is probably one of my favourite pedals, so many uses and settings to be had.

Not sure where you're looking, but Vintage & Rare sells Devi's $95 pedals at £85, as does the other UK dealer listed on the dealers page. I bought both my DE pedals from V&R.

Definitely the best analog sound out of a digital delay (if you're still kind of on the edge about digital). It's not the most versatile thing in the universe (it's got two seconds available), but soundwise it cannot be beat, in my opinion. You can score one on the 'bay for between $50 and $175 (for some crazy circuit bent ones), mostly because those who have them, like me, don't want to get rid of it. I've got two.I got the first one for free and the second for $75 shipped just a week or so ago.
But, if you want versatility... I'd say either a DD-7 or a Line 6 DL4, although I can't stand either company.
Personally, I'd just save up for an Empress Super Delay if you want the best.
Forgot to add, it has an infinite repeat function on that second footswitch.
How long can it record?

Funny thing...I bought at pds1002 on ebay five years ago for around $80-$90. This year I sold it on Ebay to a guy in Japan for $177 plus s&h! If you wait around and get one cheap, then I guess it's worth it. Personally I am now rocking the smmh and I think it is great, and crazy versatile as well.

Re: Best digital delay under 200?
if i could find a Digitech PDS-1002 for under a hundo i would in a heartbeat. i never do but then again i've never looked that hard either.
i kind of want to know more about the Akai Headrush now. there's one guy who has one in his set-up & i really like what he does music-wise. i'm pretty much a general fan of Akai stuff too. i would like to know more. i'll probably do some research tomorrow.

I've got the headrush E2 on my board and it is AWESOME. It's got a standard tap tempo digital delay, tape simulation delay, and a looper.
The standard digital sounds good for what it is, and you can set the repeats infinitely, plus it has a TON of delay time. You can also adjust the sounds of the repeats so that they get more muffled as they trail off...pretty cool
The tape simulation delay doesn't really sounds like tape at all (no modulation or oscillation) but you can do really cool syncopated delays with it by adjusting the knob that acts as the head gap. It also has four (!) outputs on top of the main output so that you could potentially hook up 5 amps and have the delay signal bouncing all over the place. I've tried it with three amps before and it sounds MASSIVE.
The looper is great. It's 26 seconds I believe and super easy/intuitive to use. The switch on the right is to record/overdub and the switch on the left is to play/playback/stop the loop. With a little practice it is very easy to get perfecetly aligned loops. You can overdub infinitely and if you hit the right switch twice while a loop is playing it deletes all your overdubs so you just get the original loop. pretty cool for dynamic changes or if you fuck up a line.

I heard good things about the Akai Headrush too - the looper, particularly - although I was told the first version (the silver E1) was the one to go for.

Re: Best digital delay under 200?
i don't know why i glossed over the Akai Headrush. i literally reduced my decision to looping time. so that cancelled out the Line 6 DL4 & the Digitech Hardwire Delay. but it wouldn't have cancelled out the Headrush.
