My band name sucks

yeah, it was a bummer. i do dig some of his music, saw him / them (3 piece) a few years ago, my friends and i even left during their set.
only heard the story of him blowing up at someone during a set somewhere...

I've been making music solo and with a band under the name Dharma For One for like 6 years. It's become attached to me, and we've got Merch, websites etc all under that name.

Trouble is, it sucks.

I want to drop the For One and keep Dharma. I think it'll be easier to tell people our name without it being too long, and I won't lose the small amount of brand recognition that I already have. I'm also terrible at making and names that don't sound super shitty like DetRIOT or other Detroit related cringeclusters.

What do you guys think?

'Dharma For One' is a perfectly serviceable name. Jesus Christ, some of the bullshit names that get through to the moderately-successful level is astounding.

The one-word band name thing will die off, hopefully sooner rather than later. If you've gone 6yrs with a good name, don't chop it in for something trendier.

"The Dharma UK." It will confuse people when you have a Detroit mailing address.

Full disclosure: I have been in bands guilty of both of these (though it WAS the '90's). First we were "The Waif UK," then we transformed into "Meridian 1520." Neither choice did us any favors.

I still like Dharma One, though. Clearly I am the wrong person for this conundrum.

Maybe try to work in some kind of Buck Dharma / Blue Oyster Cult reference?
