Fair enough bro. Luckily the music I am making doesn't require an oscillating fuzz. I'd actually like to hear music that is made with an oscillating fuzz. If you have any examples, please post.

I said music ;) . While I can't identify at all with what I heard on the bandcamp site, I guess some people would call that music. To me it just sounded like the bleatings of kids who were all given 5th place trophies and told whatever they did was "special" and "unique."
Well shit! Either it's 5th place trophies or all-Boss? I use a single Boss ME-70 for all my non-dirt FX, simply because it's expensive to get fetishy about a bunch of FX that I don't use all that much, many of which I'll never take the time to learn that well. I've had to resist the temptation to go to small builders for reverb (that reverb sux so I use delay instead!) and trem (I like it choppier) and various other stuff. But I can't see going Boss for fuzz or overdrive. DIRT IS PERSONAL!

However I don't know what the point in comparing their pedals to an industry of small builders. Take the bitquest, ct5, eventide stuff, dwarfcraft, chase bliss etc and there is often little overlap. Depends on what you compare to and in this case idk if there is really any point. Use whatever suits you.

I didn't insult it......I "curated" a "different aesthetic."

I will agree with that. Dirt is personal. After going thru so much boutique dirt, my trusty FZ-2 fit the bill perfectly. I will say, however, that my Mantic Vitriol cannot be replaced by anything.

Lol! If you say so bro. I personally like melody, harmony, song structure and lyrics. You know.....one of those things called a SONG.
Each to their own. I don't think I ever heard an iRerror track without a melody, harmony and song structure though, but now that there potentially is one I've missed, I am excited. :)*

Haven't read posts after this yet...but yep, he's baiting... just like I thought. TGP transplant comes to ILF, sees all "boutique" stuff..creates account and first post slams boutique. Then slams someone's creativity.

Cool story bro.
Take a walk.

Boss is solid stuff, but they do have to impose limitations on how wild they go since they are largely mass producer driven in philosophy. In my mind, I really can't divorce Boss from Roland, and so they have doubly earned a spot on the shelf (yes, there have been ups and downs with both, but the ups were often epic which opens them to criticism when they don't drive an angle even farther). But again, some of their design goes beyond just using jellybean parts, so they really have to consider a broad spectrum of the market in their offerings. Hardly a reason for derision, it's solid stuff.
raj007 wrote:Moreover on B..."boutique" isn't a word I like a ton when discussing pedals.
This is a solid point in my opinion. Boutique is a really wide bucket ranging from some serious EE level tone wizards who are working to eek that last 0.5% of whatever flavor they prefer
out of classically accepted designs to experimental weirdos who are designing stuff that only 0.5% of the buying population would be interested in to begin with. Furthermore, between those two points is a wide range of people (with a wide range of skill, let's not sugar coat the small builder just because they're small), so it totally turns into a classic car type of situation..

Just don't mix the Chevy & Ford guys after a few beers, and for fuck sake do not overlook the Mopar enthusiasts. :animal:

At the end of the day, we're all getting from point A to point B and making fun of my surfing wizard mural is part of the point.

Allowing a pedal to drone for 30 minutes while noodling over that drone isn't creativity. It's taking the easy way out and getting patted on the back by the other snowflakes. I really actually wanted to hear music on an oscillating fuzz, but what I heard was done much better over 50 years ago by the true pioneers of electronic music like Joel Chadabe, morton Subotnick and hell, even Walter Carlos and sheeit, even Dick Hyman.

yeah, why would anybody ever make music other than to 'beat' someone else making that same kind of music. Hell, why even repeat any style ever done before. Everyone should be creating their own tuning systems and orchestra of timbres. Also who the hell uses a guitar any more? What is this the 60's? Everyone knows guitar playing achieved perfection in 1969 it's a scientific fact, rendering anyone who plays guitar irrelevant, obsolete and delusional.
