I don't think anyone buys stringers for realistic strings. None of them sound convincing. A sampler or even a ROMpler would do a better job. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's what killed string synths. But like a spring reverb doesn't make you sound like you're playing guitar in a cave, it's still awesome and has a charm all its own.
