Well i found a Laney vc30 212 for £250 so have put in an offer for it as its so cheap i figure if i dont like it then i can flip it pretty quickly, (although its a Laney which hurts me but you have to give it a chance) and then try my hand at an Orange or Messa, but at least i know what i want now so thank you guys !

Re-Orange.

Playing around with mine more last night, I'm actually not sure if I'm satisfied now. LOL. It doesn't like dirt on the dirty channel and the clean channel has no mids control (why?). So that kind of annoys the piss out of me. Now it sounds great regardless, but I want to have a bit more control. For the price though, there's no debating it's awesome and if you're looking for that punchy, Rage Against the Machine type tone, this fucker nails it in spades. Sooooooooo much treble. LOL! I love my bass like that, but also love lows, so it's good I have a active bass with a good 4 band eq on it.

Basically I'm saying it's still awesome but doesn't like dirt pedals on the dirt channel. It does however like modulations.

I don't know many solid state amps that like dirt on the dirt channel?

To the mids knob -- I'm not sure how likely it is, but it could be a Bax stack on the clean channel EQ, which wouldn't have a mids knob.

the cr120 is a solid state clone of the rockerverb 100. the clean channel is bax and dirt channel is modern orange eq. i had a rockerverb mk ii with a mids control on the clean channel, it was surprisingly hard to get that channel dialed in, even harder than on a mk i, mk iii or cr.

I was planning on buying a Mesa F50 earlier in the year. It sticks out to me still as an amazing amp. Beats out a lot of the vintage Fenders and custom amps I've tried. I wound up using the money to build my Telemaster, but when taxes roll around again I will definitely be buying one. They take pedals insanely well too, the distortion channel is just the icing on the cake!

Edit: didn't make it all the way to this page

What's your beef with Laney? The VC series is supposed to sound real good!
