Well, I did it. I bought the SSFG for about $80 cheaper than when I started this thread. I want to tank everyone sooo, much for giving me ideas to stall me, however, in the end I think less cunning is right; this thing would have haunted me if I settled for something else. Now I have some money left over... hmmm...

for me. second thoughts/questioning/second guessing is really part of the process for me. lots of research & long deliberations. like when i was looking for a delay/looper. had i not second guessed that choice. i probably would have ended up getting a Digitech Hardwire Delay. becuz it had just come out. & the allure of a neu pedal, & rushing to get it, is sometimes difficult to ignore. sometimes next to impossible. to ignore; in addition, i kind of second guessed the Hazarai pedal becuz when i was looking to buy one, that was when the hype had died down & ppl were getting rid of them: i basically second guessed it for that reason, but i am extremely glad i did not let that color my final decision--

i also do a lot of, "Do I really need this, where exactly will this fit..." practical-type second guessing as well. that has saved me from buying a lot of crap. i look at my older G.A.S lists & i think, "Wow glad i didn't buy that pedal..." Tastes change. Seasons change...

Just for the record. I got it and sold it because it was too insane, trebly and impractical. Turns out I wanted it, but it just didn't fit in with mah sound.

i actually thing that is a good method. although i do second guess a lot sometime i can be mega-indecisive as well. sometimes the random arbitrariness of a coin flip can be a good thing.

also. sometimes i don't take a lot of risks or gambles w/ gear. so that means maybe missing out on stuff that might have over-looked, or a (hidden) feature that maybe wasn't mentioned in the specifications or on a gear demo on youtube. i guess in-store demos would alleviate some of this?? but honestly it takes me a while to really get to know a pedal so i don't think that would help.

i don't think buying stuff on a whim is inherently a bad thing becuz at least you get experience & knowledge w/ that pedal. even if it doesn't work out. helps build up your pedal vocabulary. one can learn from one's mistakes...

I agree with Iblamesummers.
It takes me a while to explore and experience a pedal.

There are all the variables of what does this work with, In front of, behind, starving etc that brings out more.

The SSFG is my main fuzz right now. I can say. It does NOT sound like a devi fuzz or a dwarfcraft fuzz or anything like that.

The thing with the Fuzz Gun is it's very good at dialing in usable fuzz tones. Muffy compressed. treblez Sputtery atari bit-ish tones. you can do most anything with it. The osc. mode is a little wild at least on a guitar with hot single coils.

If you want to sustain and feedback you'll need to turn down the gain on the pedal a little or put a clean boost in front of the pedal to overcome the gate.

So for the positive:
Cool tones in one box depending on how you set it up.
Muse like lazzer fight noises when you fiddle with the vol knob in osc. mode.
From my experience good cust service. (They had a bad batch of PCBs come in when I had mine on order. Matt was very good at communicating and even took some off the price for my having to wait an extra month from the PCB fiasco)

The negative:
The gate in gate mode is a little too strong when you dime the gain (fuzz) pot. can be overcome with a clean boost or stacking the fuzz. (a DE SMBH infront makes things sound LOVELY  )
Price( 270 for a fuzz is pretty rough but you can dial in a nice variety of tones out of it.

The maybe:
People complain about build quality. I've been giging mine 2-3 times a month for the past year with zero problems. So I'll list this as a maybe.
Looks, Some people love the punked out industrial appliance look (myself included) some like cork sniffer flowers and shit. another maybe.

I'd say go for it. I don't regret mine. Once you figure it out and get the bias control set to match your guitar it's a great all around fuzz. not super subtle, but when you buy something called Super Sonic Fuzz Gun... :idk:

I know people like to hate but whateves.

You can get a TON of insane fuzz sounds, on the oscillation mode you can get screaming siren sounds, bleepy atari sounds, warped fuzz explosions etc. The gated mode is very gated so a boost or transparent overdrive would be useful. You can get a lot of fuzz tones on the gated side but it takes a lot of knob fiddling.

This. I find it's better to run the gated mode with the fuzz backed off to about 2-3 o'clock. and put it into an over driven amp. then it's more of a fattener for the amps drive and allows effortless easily controlled feedback. that's Mainly what I use it for. and for lazer fight/atari noises at the end of a set.

I'll try and do a vid that features more of the osc. mode stuff. I don't see many of those around. :excellent:
