Great news. Hope prices plummet on the vintage units...angering flippers trying to get $3500 apiece.

It won't. If anything it will raise awareness for them since the old ones are analog (mostly).

I would at least hope that if Roland does do digital recreations of old drum machines, they learn from the mistakes of their boutique series.

These aren't (mostly analog) ?????
Complete waste, then. I'd rather save the $ and run Rebirth.

These are almost certainly going to be the same Analog Circuit Behavior that the JU-06, JX-03, and JP-08 were using to do "accurate" digital recreations of the Juno 106, JX-3P, and Jupiter 8 respectively. Which isn't a bad thing. Everyone i've spoken to about it has said that the JU-06 is one of the most accurate Juno clones ever made. At this point my setup is an Analog Mono, and then Digital Poly, Drum Machine, and Sampler. It's cool. Digital sounds good sometimes. It would really depend on what the prices ended up looking like for me, on whether i'd get a digital ACB 303 clone from Roland, or like, the Acid8 or the x0xb0x (A girl would love an Abstrakt Instruments Avalon, but lets be realistic here).

if these are analog exact reissue/clone/replicas, or even adopt Korg's Mini-Reissue strategy, we're in a totally different ball game.

Thank you for being on the team. Also, i hate admitting this, but digital emulations have hit the point where no one can tell the difference between them and analog in a full mix. Sad day.

Analog v digital is a debate (I'd rather abstain from engaging) for another 1000 page thread. It's foolish to treat them adversarially.
Individually or hybridized, I dig gear and characteristics in all of the above territory. :snax:
I think (close) reissues would be cooler, as well as having more interesting market impact.

Speak for yourself, especially when painting with such broad brushstrokes :hobbes:

Why is that sad? Sounds good = sounds good!
