DD500 is a pretty solid choice, IMO.

only delay I ever paired with midi was the pigtronix echolution 2

Can't go wrong with Timefactor or DD-500.

I plan on midifying with my tonal recall and the dd500 in the future

The Line 6 M-series delays (are they all DL4 delays?) are pretty tasty IMO. I especially dug the Lo-Res one. I think those have some MIDI functionality, but not sure of the extent.

Yup - tempo sync, preset changes, expression 1 and 2, and looper controls are all midi controllable.

I've got some time to kill, and I tried a bunch of delay peds, so I guess I'll chime in...

DL4: Awesome, lotsa presets and modes, affordable and easy to come by. The looper alone is worth the price imo. Cons: Its huge, needs its own power (right?), and the things not exactly durable/solid, especially the switches and pots.

Malekko Ekko 616: The buffer switch gave me the choice between treble suck or noise...

Vox delaylab: Pretty much a DL-4 killer, though it lacks the rad looper and a couple other tricks/modes. Overal still a step up though, especially for the money.

DD-5: The only DD I really know, instead of just messed with. The reverse mode alone is making want to get another one, but the repeats of the digital delays don't sound as bright and clean as I like 'em. Couldn't make em cut through a messy mix as good as with my old RV-3. which I' totally recommend if you're after basic digital delay that actually sounds a bit digital, and dont mind the really nice stereo reverbs that come with it

Boss DM-2: Short delay times, pricey unit...But sooo musical and rich sounding. Not TOO dark and murky, but with just the right ampunt of mush and degradation, in just the right way. That waza craft reissue actually costs a little less than a used old DM-2, and it does a couple extra tricks. Not digital though, so probably not for you.

Empress VMSD: For something that powerful, its surprisingly small, as well as affordable. Sounds terrific, does a ton of stuff, and it does them well. What killed it for me: Really annoying to use, in that regard pretty much the exact opposite of the DL-4.

Digitech Timebender: My rants are all over this place, I won't go against the grain yet another time here

Ibanez ES-2: My current go-to analog delay. As far as I could find, its the cheapest analog delay with tap, modulation, and up to a second of delay time. Turns out I dont EVER use all that delay time, the tap tempo is NOT accurate, the modulation sounds cheesy/silly, and on top of that the thing feels like it could fal apart any second. Looks sweet at forst sight, and it sounds great too imo. But the knobs, slider, the fact that my forst unit died on me within the first two days...Give me the impression they cut A LOT of corners to be able to get the price that low...:s Looking to replace it with an echo puss, which hopefully trades in the tap tempo and long delay time for better overal build quality...

Weird how ehx and tc electronics always stayed out of my greedy paws. Soooner or later I'll have to give a smmh a try. Just like the DEluxe Memory Boy though, there's a lot of mixed reviews out there. Seems like you either love em or you hate em Probably has a lot to do with style and taste in music I guess. Also curious about a number or pricey boutque delays (nemesis, the hungry robot units, time factor, timeline, that new Boss,...)...But I cant justify spending that much :s

Full circle update. Alter Ego x4 came today. It's actually pretty tight at home. We will see in the band tonight. Something I didn't expect: if you have a delay rolling then flip the switch to looper mode, the delay stays on.

i'm a delay junkie. if i could only have one pedal it'd be a delay. but i'm still not sure which one...
i prefer digital into analog too.
i'm always changing around my boards and have a terrible time making up my mind though.

I should probably just stick with my beloved Timebender/Particle combo that has done me so right for so long short, but after the show the other night, something about MIDI sync is calling me. I want to have it all.

I've got an el Cap that I love, but it's my only delay and I need to add a digital delay, something that can do reverse delay, and something for weird pitch shifting. reverse delay might be my favorite effect.

Anyway, I've been considering a number of things to pair with the el cap: the new Mondegreen (but no reverse, and I think I've soured on Alexander pedals since the whole "yeah well we started it" thing, so the Alexander reverse is out), another ct5 (had one once and flipped it), nemesis, particle.

However, I think I might just pick up a used dd5 and ps3 for about the same cost of any one of those previously mentioned.

I've bought an used DD-6 to pair with my DML2 for basic digital, reverse, warp and hold mode. Paid 70€ for it, I recommend this one for your needs.
