I like Battles a lot, but I consider them an enjoyable exception in a realm that's inherently wanky and boring.

I loved the books and Zammuto, if that counts as in the same realm. Granted the books have been doing it longer than Battles. :idk:

just checked out this band. they definitely have some very Battles-ish parts. they also do some old school Bitch Magnet/Slint type stuff too. I'm not big on the clean/tappy end of math rock, but they keep it interesting most of the time. I'm not blown away, but, all in all, a pretty decent band!
