i was kinda skeptical too about both him and jack white before i saw the film also. i think being in a band with bono gives that "crazy earthy guy" effect to the edge also. the whole film he kinda plays around with that and seems really down to earth. he also says some pretty inspiring stuff in the middle of the film (not in a cheesy way).

Jack comes into the film stating we wanted to be like son house, flat duo jets, etc. it was refreshing that he wasnt that guy who states "everything i do is completely original" erasing any thought of postmodernism.

if you like rock go see this movie. you'll like it.

my only complaint, is that they never focused on page's dragon painted tele. that thing is out of control!

Haha, I was watching my Led Zep DVD earlier this week, and I love the real early footage of them when Page was still playing that Tele. I think he sounded better with that than when he started using Les Pauls. The Supershow version of "Dazed & Confused" has probably one of my favourite Tele sounds ever.

It's a tragedy that guitar is pretty much gone (the body got refinished, and the neck was taken off and put on the brown tele). I love that thing.

I haven't seen the film yet. Being in the UK, I'll probably have to wait for the DVD. The trailer looks great.

Page's Tele is the reason I wanted a Telecaster when I was starting guitar.

Don't miss the whole solo in Dazed & Confused

And don't miss him working out some of the ideas for the solo while in The Yardbirds

For more about the Yardbirds, consult your local library.

Saw it...loved it...recommend it.
I was in awe when Page showed the stairwell where the drums for "...Levee Breaks" were recorded.

I'm a big fan of Page and Edge...and I dig J-Dub too....his voice actually moves me as much as his guitar playing - it's all part of the same wreckless spirit he brings to the table.

For those who percieve Edge as a politico earth hippie in Bono's shadow...might need to check out some EARLY U2. And I don't mean Joshua Tree. I guess if the first U2 you heard was Achtung Baby, I can see how one might get a weird perspective.
Let's not forget, their first album was released in 1980! They were born out of a very post punk vibe.
My favorite shit is the first album (Boy), the first live album (Under a Blood Red Sky), and the first album with Eno (Unforgettable Fire). All very raw, fresh, and real.

It wasn't that good, really. Only saw it for the Yardbirds scene, which was pretty good, not great. Disappointing over all.

^^It's in my DVD collection.

I honestly never gave a crap about The Edge until after I saw It Might Get Loud, now, I'm buying a shitload of U2 albums! And a Memory Boy (maybe.) I really liked all the subtle humor they all brought. Fuckin hilarious.

Going back a step, I have to say, THIS is my favourite "Dazed & Confused" as I alluded to earlier:

The B&W version also posted is cool, but I love this one even more. Page's tele sounds AMAZING here, and I love the way once he's done with the violin bow bit, he just nonchalantly throws it over his shoulder like that. I wish I was that cool. But I'm not.

This was really something.

I've always liked jack, so it was great getting to hear him talk about his approach, and how he does things. It was also really great to see his weird sense of humor, and how he had that kid just stomp on his guitar not even caring what would happen to it. I've never been keen on U2, but this has perked my interest, and I'll probably be picking up some albums. I liked the edge's approach, and he said a lot of really great things about playing, and the instrument. The forest thing was really cool, and I sort of resonated with that. Page was great, just great. To see him reminisce and just remember what he had done. He has a great personallity.

It seemed like Jack fights his guitar, The Edge (what's his actual name?) is friends with his guitar, and Page is master of his guitar.

This sing along to "the weight" was awesome because I love the band. Seemed like a random choice for all of them...

Go see it! :animal:
