Actually, I can't believe I didn't list my single biggest influence, playing-wise: Pete Townshend. Pete made the guitar the rhythm instrument and let the bass and drums be the lead instruments. That one idea changed my playing more than anything

it's an art. Live at Leeds and Isle of Wight recordings really show case it all

This is always a weird question for me. The bands I find most influential are bands I usually sound nothing alike, and sometimes I don't even enjoy their albums that much. They just hit me like a ton of bricks. I could fill a page, but I'll stick with 5.

Daniel Rossen (Friend EP), Kurt Ballou (especially You Fail Me era), Greg Edwards (Future Perfect) have colored the guitar aesthetic I chase.

Django Reinhardt and Joe Pass have shaped some of my playing--lots of finger picking, poor attempts at jazz chord voicings, etc. Listened to a lot of that in high school.

More recently I've been inspired by more pianists, and experimental/ambient artists: Nils Frahm, Dustin O'Halloran, Hildur Goðnadóttir, Nakatani Gong Orchestra, Dawn of Midi. I think a lot of that comes from the way they fill space.

I've also been finding myself exploring some surf music as of late.
