My sweet spot is under 8-9 lbs. That extra pound really seems to fuck with my lowback for some reason.

That's sounds amazing and I love MM humbuckers.
I found a Casaday at a low price. They're usually 8lbs but the seller said it felt like 5.
Half price & hard case. Had to.
This does it for me no more basses!

The only thing I really don't like about them is the neck shape.. and pulling the pickguard off makes them [and ALL round guard MMs] 5000% better looking

You mean the headstock or the actual neck shape? I found them incredibly easy to play and dig the way it feels.

I find the 5 string bongo neck a bit to flat for me, I like thin necks but but for whatever reason I didn't like it as much as the sting ray 5 neck

Flat neck, mm humbuckers, & 6lbs sounds ideal
Too bad they're hideous and prohibitively $,$$$ I can live w hideous

My T-40 is 11lbs. I use a very fat strap and it doesn't really bother me. The weight is worth it for the tone.
