Hey, so, you missed an amazing show.
Like, absolutely insane.
Eugene jumped into the crowd at the end and just handed his bass to some random dude who got on stage and just droned for a solid five minutes.
Also, all the songs from the new album sound sooooo much better live.
And I hung out with Eugene, who is super ADD and chill at the same time. I told him and Greg that I'm building them pedals next time they're in Cleveland and Eugene was pretty ecstatic.
Also, I think I scared the shit out of Carla when I pulled out my pocket knife to cut the plastic on the record for her to sign (she jumped and backed away for a moment).
I only got to talk to Greg for a little while since he was only out for maybe 10 minutes, but he said he's trying to make his board smaller for traveling to which I plugged some ILF related companies.
Fuck, that was a great show.

Yeah, I got lucky seeing Greg. I waited probably half an hour after the show while hanging with Eugene (who is insanely awesome and immediately came out to hang). Greg looked super beat but was really nice and signed my records and talked about gear even when he didn't have to.
Shit, I want them to come to Akron.
I'm not driving three hours to see them, I did that shit enough during my last job.

Grog shop was just a small bar, so I assume so.
But, I rarely hang around Akron, so there's that, too.

So I heard the album and... well first impressions are "somewhere between Future Perfect and Transit Transit", pleasure-wise
I think not a disappointment, not a totally sweet record
first impressions, you know

Soft Scene is such a banger though, shit

Hearing the songs live has really warmed me up to the album.
Feeling the bass in Soft Scene deep in your soul is absolutely amazing.

Felt small to me.

Although, most shows I've been to were in theaters.

Jesus.
I drove from Ann Arbor, MI to see Autolux in Cleveland and made it just in time to watch the Reappearing freakout. That's all. 3 hours there, 4 hours back. God and his snow can suck my ass.
Was it worth it? Sure. I was AMAZED though that the show ended that early. Starts at 9, three bands, and Autolux is DONE at 11:30pm? I'm not complaining, just perplexed.
Ah well.
For the record, I looooooooooooooooooooove Transit Transit. It's their best album, and I've been following them since 2000 when they debuted. Supertoys and Audience No. 2 are like... the ultimate. Then you have beauties like Spots and The Bouncing Wall and Science. Goddamn.
I really like Pussy's Dead, though. Any qualms I had with it were quelled (yes, my qualms were quelled) when I remembered that I barely liked Transit Transit when it came out, but it's now my favorite record by the best band of the last 15 years. So fuck you guys.
Welp. Maybe next time I'll see more than half of their last song. Ironically that's happened to me twice, same exact song. Walked in on Reappearing in Detroit and Cleveland, about ten years apart. The lyrics to that song are apt.
Later.
