...but then my dreams of near perfection were crushed by Saves the Day fandom!

Saves The Day are awesome.

My favourite quote about Saves The Day and their eternal appeal comes from Matt Pryor of TGUK:
We definitely have a drinking crowd now. Whereas back in the day, we could never get a show on Halloween or New Year’s Eve. Promoters would be like, “Well, the band drinks more than the crowd does.” But now, I was telling Chuck [Ragan] this on the Revival Tour, the crowd is like, “We got a sitter! Woo!” But I’m really good friends with [Chris] Conley and we talk about this a lot —that we had a similar career arc in that things were going up, up, up, up, up and then we made a record that was good but divisive and how do you recover from that? And they keep slugging it out. They’ll go on Warped Tour, they’ll play shows with Bayside, and we’re just stubborn and we don’t really do things we don’t like.
I love it because it's true, the crowd at a TGUK show is thirtysomething lapsed emo kids, and the crowd at an STD show is still teenagers. No age difference from back in the early 2000s.

Also, I love that Conley did a Coffee & Riffs with OBNE.

implying that playing a show with Bayside is something other than "doing things we don't like"

Fuck off! I'd play a show with Bayside. Even if I was in a semi-famous pop-punk group.

That one Bayside album was tight.
