Thinking of dremeling that shit open. Not cause I'm dying to take a peek at the pcb, but just to make a point

I picked up a sustaint model recently and it really does sound great. That plastic case does come off but it seems some pcbs are harder to wiggle out than others. Mine is stuck but I'll try to pry it loose.
A few years back I borrowed an orange Ibanez OD850 and the case (Maxon branded) slid off easily. Didn't do a full trace because the values all seemed to match the Kitrae schematic. They are the exact same pedal.
I remember seeing a post somewhere (FSB?) that suggests changing a few resistors in the tone stack to a 100k pot for a bass control. Might finally build one to see how that sounds.

Yeah I'd trust the kitrae values to be correct.
Shit is Encyclopaedia Mufftanica.

I think it was just for the ease of an assembly line too...just pop in those boxes and not worry about shorts and stuff. I kinda think that's why rosac/Mosrite did a similar kinda thing with that wrap. Probably a bonus that it keeps people from fiddling about and copying...I think it is mostly assembly line stuff though...they did sell to other companies with different branding and boxes.

^ PCB in mine (second version, with LED and power jack in) slides out real easy but, yeah, as others have said, the chances of Kit Rae making a mistake where Muffs are concerned are slim to no-fucking-way-on-earth. Dude is Muff crazy, in the best possible way.

I'm sure the black box is indeed more about preveting shorts, and safely housing the pcb snug inside the case and all that...
But than why the f*ck does it have to be so friggin hard to pull the pcb out??
If they wanted to prevent people from copying the circuit...Than that'd just be pretty ironic, right? I mean, considering Maxon was pretty much the higher end Mooer of that era, copying 95% of the EHX design...
