The mynoise app has a womb-noise generator, among a lot of other awesome ones.

I can't wait to play ambient drone for my babies before and after they're born.

First time parent. 3 or 5 seems like very, very far off in the future and I hope it stays there.
Sorry dude, I feel for you.
You guys got air con? Happy compromise?

It sneaks up man. I dunno where the past five years went, but the boy is at school now, just got through his first week.

The best advice I can give first time dads is this: you will freak out. Not sleeping will nearly kill you. You will question every single one of your life choices.
Just be ready for that.
Because nobody talks about it.
Nobody is really ready for a kid.
They think they are.
But it is only a thought.
Having a kid is some heavy shit.

But it's also really rad.

I never drones out for my son or anything to get him to sleep, but he used to sit in his little bouncer and watch me practice my lame attempts at shredding.
He really liked distorted arpeggios with delay for some reason.

thanks man! The lack of sleep thing is really worrying me but yeah, my partner is incredible and I hope we'll be able to do it. Plenty of other people with a lot less have done it before us.

Oh man the moron owner builder who built our house put one airconditioning unit upstairs, right above the stairway. So it's completely fucking useless. As soon as we found out she was preggers we got proper cooling installed in our room, his room and the study. Just one in an unending litany of how stupid this guy is (ask me about the time the sewer connection literally exploded in our backyard).

Babypod is a tampon-esque speaker. Couldn't you switch a few wires around and make it into a vagina microphone to record an actual womb? Or you could vagina-mic a kick drum... Ideas are endless.

Yeah insomnia is really frustrating at first, it fucked with me really hard, anyway, but you kinda learn to roll with it after a while.

Rental slumlords are the best! Especially when they can fix everything themselves.
Sounds like the dude that owned the first share house I lived in.

I'm going to loop the sounds and play it on repeat in iTunes. If you have another sonogram def. record it with your phone. If you want, I can post the sounds when I get around to looping them if you want to use them (if that's not too creepy).
That would be awesome and I'll try to do likewise, though it is going to take me a few weeks to get down to it (apparently decorating the baby's room is more important!)

My bad - I meant super unpleasant companion which is basically a supafuzz and a companion fuzz in one, and possibly the best investment I've ever made - copes with everything I feed into it and sounds like the end of the universe (not for the faint hearted though) - http://www.fredric.co.uk/shin-ei-fy-2-f ... -companion

This. Exactly. We were just kids ourselves when we had our first, so I really thought I was fucking it up terribly. We never slept. We were broke, so we couldn't hire help to get away. She was a really hard baby and it was even worse for Ben who didn't make milk.

But then, all of a sudden, they are learning to tie their shoes and heading off to school and you realized that you lived through it all. lol.

Your kid will either sleep through nuclear war or they will wake at the drop of a pin.
Sometimes, it's a bizarre and horrendous combination of both that lacks sense and consistency.

Good luck trying to simulate the womb in real world, though.

Jaded prent, signing out.

I had read this thread and not posted because basically all I had to say was this.

Simulating sounds is a mistake in my mind, makes kids only want to sleep under the right conditions, and their are no right conditions.

Kids. You do what you can and love them with all you have, you mess up a bunch, and they don't even know. Fortunately they are just potatoes for a few months and all they want is to be held and stuff. Everyone gets ruined and it's the best thing ever. Seriously. You'll be fine, but you'll have your own life crisis in your own way.

Anyway, congrats and enjoy the little life!
