Thanks for responding everyone. Doesn't seem like there is a real preference... seems about 50/50 for in front or at the end.

I have a The Elements that I just get a nice bassy (for guitar) overdrive with, and it seems to me like it works best at the front. Then I DO have an excellent overdrive (probably the best I've heard) in my Fender Blues Deluxe. So that probably solves it right there... Elements at the front and amp OD at the end.

Blues Deluxe is the real deal. You almost don't need another od but you know how that goes.

There's no rule of course but as a starting point I like to think of a low gain OD pedal as emulating a slightly dirty amp, and in that case it makes sense to have it late in the chain. When combined with other effects all bets are off though, if it works better before other pedals, maybe a phaser or a wah, then so be it. Which is probably why a lot of people have multiple dirt pedals in different spots in the chain.

Good to see you here. That was a fiasco wasn't it.
I crank bifet pre into od but keep vol on the od low to not clip my amp. As long as my dirt is before delays.

Try an OD at the end of your chain sometime. It's fucking killer.
Makes sense. They seem to react better the more you pour into them. I'll try.
