Would help a lot to know what kinda guitar and amp setup OP is gonna be using.
Like, the mini was my go to dirt pedal when i was using a mascis jazzmaster into a marshall amp and definitely did those TWDY kinda sounds nicely but there are pedals that would work better with different setups, I'd say.

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks. I think I'm going to pick up a Mini. The Knobs demo won me over.

G&L ASAT Special Tribute into a 60's Supro Bantam that's been converted into a Supro 1606. It's very similar to a Fender Champ now with the added benefit of not being a death trap anymore. I had to sell an AC15 recently, but I'm going to pick up another amp around the same wattage at some point when I have the funds and a place to play it that's not my apartment.

I actually sometimes find myself playing terrible white-man-blues and miserable omg-so-sentimental-post-rock-p&w4lyf with my Fuck because it slays for those tones. Seriously. I recommend it to everyone for all styles of music because it sounds good in any context. I guarantee you will love the Mini!
Edit: and when your hipster undertones take over you'll have the perfect pedal for lofi garage rock, shoegaze, post-punk, neo-surf, jangle-pop, harsh noise, and doom.
Oh yeah, it also sounds good with literally any other instrument besides guitar!

Mini is a great choice. You couldn't go wrong with a Fuck either. If you're happy with lower gain only, the Fairfield Barbershop is awesome too. But I'd go with a Mini.

Mini is the only gain pedal on my board. Absolutely perfect!

Not a sexy answer but I'm a huge proponent of the DOD 250 reissue. Super cheap and just flat out sounds good. I like it better than every pricey od I've owned in the past. I use one in front of a hoof (hoofreaper actually) and love em together. That new EQD gray channel is the only thing I can see bumping it.

250 is rad, for sure.

That new EQD Bellows might work too. Or one of those tweed amp blowing up sounding Electra distortion clones.
and this:

Are both great. (Magic Sam's playing Earl Hooker's guitar. )
and speaking of Electra Distortions, I'm kinda interested in this:

or the iron pig from earthbound audio
has an od/dist switch with plenty of diode options on tap but pretty simple to get good sounds out of
