I've always thought of myself this way.
Ego bruised, but not really.
I love Vincey!

To be fair, I flip EVERYTHING.
I have gone through literally 30+ guitars, way more pedals and probably 20+ amps in the past 5 years.
The only pieces of gear I've kept and will not sell are my collection of various EHX Big Muffs, my USA strat and my AVRI JM.

for amps, what about Analog Outfitters?
the Sarge is under a grand, sounds great, and has a cool visual aesthetic (in case it gets to make on camera appearances).

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks much for all of the input so far.
Nelson Guitars really tug at the ol' heart strings.
Science isn't within the ideal price range, but you can't put a price on true love.
(A lolful aside: EVERY Canadian dealer listed for the various guitar / amp companies I've explored have not carried the brand. GET IT TOGETHER)

Figured it out guys.
Step 1: Drive to Detroit
Step 2: Buy my gear
Step 3: Make more videos
Step 4: Profit

I met Florian and played a few Millimetrics the other weekend. Those things are badass.
There's also a shop in LA called Old Style Guitar, and the owner there builds these really fantastic frankenstein custom guitars that are pretty affordable and awesome.

they're a little spendy, but Bensen amps are awesome.

Don't think that amp is supposed to be played after Labor Day.

What about Carvin? I don't dig them as they still seem to think that hair metal or caring about being made in the US is a thing, but they are an alternative to Fender, Vox, etc. Still make some big bottle amps that can be had for well under $1k.
Frenzel? Not at all flashy, doesn't get talked about much anymore, but makes affordable flexible amps for short money with strong customer service.
Fargen? His recent rebranding makes him seem even more pretentious, but the Bastage and Micro Plex are solid unique handbuilt options for/at sub $1K.
Emerysound? Sexy as hell, always wanted one.
Swart? Also bring the need for gear frottage. Most of their amps are pricey - all of them are pricey, but some are below $1k. Straddles the line between blooz lawyers and sonic soul fuckers - GYBE use them, they've got LP's from Johnny cash and Radiohead under their xmas tree.
Traynor? Isn't that they obvious answer?
On the guitar front, how about Reverend? Or eastwood/airline?
Does your demo gear have to be hyper boutique? Not all of the stars of the Knobs demos fit that classification - see the TC triple delay.

honestly, i think Danelectro/Fender is fine. no need to make a big deal about anything else you're using other than the piece you're demo-ing

Yeeeeeah, I go back and forth on it.
It was a conscious decision up to this point not to mention any of the gear I've been using.
Here's the clean signal, here's the effect: listen.
But people still ask.
Often.
And we all know how it is when you're relatively new on the guitar path:
Gear gets a lot of credit for the sound.
So I would rather the answer be something I want to support / truly enjoy, rather than what I simply happen to have.
I'm also moving into a new space, so I'll need a couple amps and a couple guitars anyhow.

I get wanting to support builders, because that's awesome, but the flip side is that the gear you currently use is attainable to the majority, whereas hand-built custom stuff may not be. Guys like Gearmandude demo with guitars and amps I'll likely never be able to afford, so demos like that have to be taken with a grain of salt, whereas PGS Andy tends to use things like a 65 DRRI, which just about anybody can get.
I know "sounding like everybody else" isn't really most musicians' goal, but for pedal demos, I think easily acquirable gear is great.

Yeah I agree with yah.
I was hoping to find something a tad more on the affordable side.
Boutiqueness is definitely not a requirement, but I would prefer to help a company of boutique scale.

But if this thread is any indication, that simply may not be a thing.

Meh. There are so many demos with stuff that's common, but even then it's not real guide to how it's going to relate to your rig. As long as you can hear the unaffected tone at the beginning you know what's happening to the signal.
