Right. Unless you're playing all dirty.
The advantage of having those 50 watts, aside from dangerous volume, is headroom. Like I said, this is still in development, so it remains to be seen how clean/crunchy we'll get. I want to have at least a little squish to round out the really cruel fuzz that comes out of a shiva, for example. I fyou put that shit through a Twin reverb, or worse yet, a big solid state, the treble can be a real nightmare.

Ahh, so it's not just me. I've had battles with treble on my Princeton and my small tube amp.

I play through two solid state amps and I love them!

Try a Roland Jazz Chorus JC 120.
The guitarists have a bad opinion about solid state because the amp company don't spend money in research and developpment as for tube amp technology, but really good solid state amp exist! In the 60s/70s there was a lot of very good solid state amp (WEM for example).
And why amp builder don't spend money in R&D for solid state amp ? because everybody thinks and say that only tube are good. And why they think that ? because you only know practice/beginner or bad solid state amp.
Don't be dumb and think over the company strategy!
It's like saying "only boutique/analog pedals are good enough"...

Remember that time the dude who makes Soldano worked for Yamaha in the late 70's? He made some incredibly good sounding SS shit. and the JC is pretty sick. Even fender did some good SS shit in the late 70's and early 80's.
But man, when I did an A-B test with a fender jazzmaster through a roland JC 120 and a Fender Blackface Twin Reverb, the victor was obvious
And yes

If the crunch is fuzzy sort of clean OD on guitar, count me on board. I'd love to have something i could really kick it through.

It depends on the sound you're seeking for! Many metals bands use JC120 for clean tones. If you want a slight crunchy clean, you need tubes.
Hybrid technology can also do very good amp (not like valvestate), see the peavey DEUCE, with 6L6 ( !!! ) power amp
