I squint at the tape heads or the Z80 microprocessor on the vintage rack box to tell!

No way! I'm friends with the EAR guy. My other guitarist is really close with him and half of his pedals are built by them! He has that other delay they build, I can't remember what it's called, but it is an Echobase, and it also sounds fucking awesome.

Small world! Except you're in Norway...

Still cool!
That's awesome! I got it in the Reverb auction for Andy Richardson. Such a beautiful little thing, handpainted by Justin Brunkow. Sounds dark and atmospheric like whoa, good vibes every time I turn it on.

dunno I've found** pt2399s to be more ambient/washy while BBDs sound more rhythmic. also you can just open it up and check

I can say with all honesty I think I've only open 1 delay pedal ever and that was my ILFDD. I didn't even look at any of the chips or anything. I just wanted to see if there was a love note in it. Which there wasn't. :( :( LOL

I don't typically open pedals.

Me and my DMM think you are wrong.

I don't think I've tried a PT2399-based delay before, but I was thinking in building one myself.

lol i love finding notes. ryan left me one on each pedal and i remember dan's muff being pretty deep, too :D it also smelled glorious. in the way you know it's bad for you but can't help yourself. i think i've opened every pedal i've had; I don't understand it as much as I'd like to but I like to check out the 'quality' and complexity of the circuits. clean hand wired stuff is art to me and some circuit boards actually have some on them like dr. sci's stuff

I agree with resin regarding rhythmic or washy. Makes sense too - bbds lose fidelity faster than a pt delay so after a while with a bbd you just get a lot of transients and not much of the note.

I like it.

:snax:

I went from fancy big-ass digital delays, to stripped down compact digital delays, back to a big-ass digital delay. Just like the previous times, the silly reverse pitch shifting wobbly weirdness and the tons of identical sounding other modes aren't doing anything for me, and now I'm dying to get something more...analog :idk:

So I'm taking notes here. Modulation isn't high up the list, unless it's the...well, 'useable' kind. Not even sure what that means myself, I just know I'm more into conservative, tasty stuff when it comes to modulation on dealy. Opposed to the trippy/cheesy kind I mean.

Wants: Roughly a second of delay time, tap tempo, and the ability to basically just sit in the mix like a fucking boss.

Not sure if I'd prefer pt or bbd :idk:

^Or you could even go with a Memory Lane Jr. which is a warm sounding digital delay. Simple pedal in terms of controls and options, but it sounds amazing! Modulation is very usable too.

dba echo dream and ghost delay
i'm finalizing my own delay design with the 2399 and its a nightmare. its hard to control it exactly the way i want and each chip varies slightly from one another. have to keep reminding myself i'm trying to polish a turd.

meet maude utilizes BBDs and I'm not sure about the superdelay but I think there's some magic computer language in there
