I just want to interject that we have tried things like this multiple times over the boards history and it never works. I think the constant thread derailments are part of the charm myself.

It depends on what you mean by "better."

In terms of virtuosity, no, it probably won't; after Hendrix you hit a point of diminishing returns on musicality. I mean... to be able to play that well and never once end up wanking off is Hendrix's greatest accomplishment, IMO.

That song features the best A in the history of recorded music.

I am not going to be the one who says Hendrix sucked but he did have a few duds in his canon. For instance his F#'s aren't all that great.
