Even when I haven't listened to Elvis Costello for a minute I'm always influenced by him.
Les Rallizes Denudes, also. And gangsta rap.
Recently, though, I've been on a serious delta blues kick.

nice! anything in particular? I love that stuff to death. When I'm not playing my electric I'll always pull out my trusty resonator and do some fingerpicking. it's the best.

TAD IS AWESOME
That is all.
That is all.
You just need a passive bass, a tube amp, and a metric ton of marijuana and Sabbath worship.

Furry Lewis, Bukka White, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Willie Johnson, any other Blind Willies I suppose... Patton Johnson Skip House and other obvious sorts, Junior Kimbrough, and of course Leadbelly (possibly the most stupefyingly fantastic guitarist ever).
I'm really rejiggering my influences at the moment. I'm pushing aside some of the rock types, aside from Elvis Costello, Les Rallizes Denudes, and Two Gallants. More blues, more Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, more Smog/Bill Callahan, more Holy Sons... should be fun.

awesome choices, Blind Willie McTell is unbelievable. I got a twelve string a couple years ago and the shit he does on one of those blows my mind. You dig Mississippi John Hurt at all? His finger picking is incredible...melodies and basslines at the same time sort of stuff.
Mississippi Fred Mcdowell is great on the slide front. His album, "I do not play no Rock 'n' Roll" is great...a bunch of tracks are just him telling stories.
